Fairing or handlebar mirrors for scooters and maxi scooters

On many maxi scooters, such as the Yamaha TMAX, the original mirrors are fixed to the fairing: you can replace them with a fairing mirror identical to the original or move to the handlebar with a kit that closes the holes and provides the mount. To choose you need the exact model, version and year, because mounts, hole spacing and kits change from one series to the next.

In short

  • Fairing-mounted: the mirror is screwed to the fairing; what counts is the hole spacing, the distance between the holes.
  • Handlebar or bar end: on the TMAX you need a kit with blanking caps; on the Honda X-ADV the original mirrors are already on the handlebar.
  • On the TMAX Tech Max you need the spacers that move the mirrors back, otherwise the mirrors touch the screen.
  • FAR kits change with the series: TMAX 500, 530, 560 up to 2021, 2022-2024 and from 2025.
  • A scooter faster than 50 km/h must have two mirrors, one on each side.

For a fairing replacement, measure the distance between the two screws of your original mirror: on the FAR product page it is listed as hole spacing. For handlebar mirrors read the guide to threads, for bar end mirrors the bar end guide.

Yamaha TMAX: what each series uses

On the TMAX the original mirrors are fairing-mounted. Here are the FAR fairing replacements and the kits to move to the handlebar, series by series:

TMAX 560 and Tech Max (2025-2026)–Complete kit 8213; for your own FAR mirrors, spacer kit 8210

The Tech Max case

On the TMAX 560 Tech Max the screen is different: with a standard kit the mirrors touch it. That is why there is the 8071 TECH MAX, which includes spacers that move the mirror back. The spacers are also sold on their own (8090SX and 8090DX). For 2025-2026, kit 8210 includes blanking caps, spacer and screws, without mirrors: it is for FAR mirrors sold without caps and screws, such as the Viper 8 Street 7340 / 7341.

Caps only

For the TMAX 560 2022-2024, the G18BB7051 kits contain the cap and screws for one side, not the mirror. If you want everything in one box, choose 8071, 8072 or 8071 TECH MAX. All products are in the Yamaha TMAX collection.

Honda X-ADV 750

On the X-ADV the original mirrors are already on the handlebar, with a threaded mount, and the replacements change with the series:

  • 2017-2020: with the original Honda adapter the thread is M10x1.25 left-hand; replacements 7058 (right) and 7059 (left), standard M10x1.25 thread, screw onto the handlebar support once the adapter is removed.
  • From 2021: replacements 8216 (right) and 8215 (left), M10x1.25 left-hand thread.
  • Bar end: kit 8219 has the pair of mirrors and the C0304040 adapters; it fits the X-ADV 2017-2020 and 2021-2026 and the Africa Twin.

Other scooters

For the Yamaha XMAX 125 and 300 (2018-2023), the XMAX 250 (2018-2022) and the Tricity 300 (2020-2023) there are the C0105917VN bar end adapters; for the Vespa GTS and Primavera the Bicolor 7806 bar end mirror. You will find everything in the Yamaha XMAX, modern Vespa and Honda SH collections. For a scooter with fairing-mounted mirrors and no dedicated replacement, there are universal fairing mirrors, such as the Falcon with M6 screws and hole spacing adjustable from 23 to 55 mm.

How to choose in 4 steps

  1. Find the exact model, version and year: on the TMAX it also matters whether it is a Tech Max.
  2. Decide: a fairing replacement identical to the original, or a move to the handlebar with a kit.
  3. Measure: for the fairing the spacing between the screws, for the handlebar the thread or the inner diameter.
  4. Check road approval and clearance: the “ECE homologated” badge on the product page, and that the mirror does not touch the windscreen or levers.

A scooter faster than 50 km/h must have two mirrors, one on each side, and the mirrors must be approved: the details are in the guide to approved mirrors. With Search by Motorcycle, at the top of every page, you see only the products verified for your scooter.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fit handlebar mirrors on the TMAX?

Yes, with the right kit for your series: the kit closes the holes of the original mirrors on the fairing and provides the mount for the mirror on the handlebar. For the TMAX 560 2022-2024 there are also the complete kits 8071 and 8072, with mirrors and caps.

What are blanking caps?

They are the caps that close the seat of the original mirrors on the fairing once you remove them. They are already included in FAR complete kits; for some series they are also sold separately.

Why does the TMAX Tech Max need a different kit?

Because the Tech Max screen is different and with a standard kit the mirrors touch it. The 8071 TECH MAX has the 8090SX and 8090DX spacers, which move the mirror back.

What is the hole spacing of a fairing mirror?

It is the distance between the centres of the two screw holes that fix the mirror to the fairing. Measure it on your original mirror and compare it with the one on the FAR product page.

Are FAR scooter kits road-approved?

It depends on the model. For example, kits 8071, 8072, 8071 TECH MAX and 8213 are road-approved, while the Dark Saber mirrors for TMAX are not approved. Always check the badge on the product page.

How many mirrors does a scooter need?

Two, one on each side, if the scooter is faster than 50 km/h. Up to 50 km/h, like mopeds, one is enough, on the left.
